The 11 th National and International Academic Conference 2024 (FAR11)
“New Outlook”
on 1 st – 2 nd August 2025
at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University

This conference aims to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange, fostering the exploration of new ideas and perspectives in the field of art amidst the rapid transformations of culture, technology, and theoretical paradigms. Through critical reflection and interrogation of artistic practices across multiple dimensions, the concept of “New Perspectives” seeks to expand the boundaries of artistic thought and practice in the 21st century issues.

Seeing | "To See" and "To Look" in the Artistic Realm

“Seeing” refers to both the act of perception and a cognitive engagement with art. It opens opportunities for artists and scholars to examine how we see and interpret art, and how acts of seeing influence artistic creation. Furthermore, art possesses the capacity to reshape perception, influence interpretation, and transform the viewer’s experience in multiple dimensions.

Perspective | Angles and Perspectives in Artistic Inquiry

This theme investigates the evolution of perspectives and conceptual frameworks, including theories and paradigms that inform artistic research and creative processes. It emphasizes interdisciplinary dialogues and the incorporation of diverse modes of understanding art, ultimately contributing to an expanded role of art in contemporary society.

Newness | Rethinking "New" in Art and Scholarship

The notion of "newness" in art is not only confined to innovation or technology alone but also encompasses new methodologies, narratives, and ways of seeing. It involves re-questioning and reinterpreting existing ideas while connecting contemporary art with historical and theoretical discourses to cultivate new forms of dialogue and understanding.

This conference welcomes a wide range of artistic research practices, including visual arts, design, digital art, music and performance, creative writing, and interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary works. It invites scholars, researchers, artists, students, and practitioners to present and exchange emerging perspectives on art in this dynamic academic setting.
